Cinco de Mayo 2026 in Austin: Where the Deals Actually Are
Cinco de Mayo lands on a Tuesday in 2026, which means the citywide blowout you remember from last year's Sunday is shrunk down to a sharper, faster lineup. Fewer all-day rooftop parties, more "get there by 6, be home by 10." Good news: the deals are still excellent, and a Tuesday Cinco actually plays nicely with happy hour.
We added every Cinco de Mayo special we could verify to the venues' listings on hhaust.in, so they'll show up automatically when you scrub the time picker to Tuesday afternoon and evening. Here's the short list of what to pay attention to.
Doc's Backyard Grill (Sunset Valley) — All-day Cinco bash. Live mariachi from noon to 3pm, $5 margaritas, $4 drafts, and $16 Dos XX pitchers. Doc's patio was built for this kind of thing.
The Stay Put (Rainey) — High Fives & Margs. $5 margaritas for five hours starting at 5pm. The early-evening window is the play here — kick it off on Rainey, then wander.
Scholz Garten (Downtown) — Cinco de Mayo Fiesta from noon to 5pm with sizzlin' fajita taco specials, DJ Giant Hornets from Japan, and Selena tunes on repeat. Yes, at the German biergarten. Yes, it works.
Hotel Vegas & Volstead Lounge (East 6th) — Free tacos with featured drink purchase, El Tule live on the main stage, Primos on the patio, mariachi, paletas, and piñatas. Happy hour 3–5pm. Probably the loudest, fullest celebration on this list.
Punch Bowl Social (The Domain) — Final day of the Pantalones Tequila takeover. $6 frozen margaritas plus $14 May Margaritas with Pantalones Tequila and a free boot shooter while supplies last. Bowling, karaoke, and darts are 50% off during happy hour, so this is your move if Cinco needs to double as a group activity.
Kinda Tropical (East 7th) — Pork carnitas served from noon and a Carabuena Tequila pop-up tasting with specialty cocktail previews. Lower-key than the East 6th party but exactly what a chill Tuesday wants to be.
Taco Flats (Clarksville) — $8 frozen margaritas and $8 Casera margaritas on the rocks all day. A photo of these on Instagram is what kicked off this whole roundup, and honestly $8 for a Casera marg made with actual mezcal-adjacent care is the value of the day.
A few things to remember on a Tuesday Cinco. Most kitchens close earlier than they do on weekends, so don't slow-walk dinner. The 3–6pm window catches happy hour at most of the spots above stacked on top of the Cinco specials, which is the cheapest hour of the year to drink in Austin. And if you're driving anywhere south of the river or out to the Domain, leave more time than you think — Tuesday traffic plus a holiday plus a margarita is a math problem nobody wins.
Use the time scrubber on hhaust.in to see what's active at any specific hour on May 5. Cinco events show up with an amber ribbon on the map and a 🎉 next to the name in the list. Have a fun one.
